Currier and Ives était un atelier de gravure américain dirigé par Nathaniel Currier (1813–1888) et James Merritt Ives (1824–1895) qui se trouvait à New York. La société réalisa plus d'un million de gravures entre 1835 et 1907.

Ah la fameuse société Currier & Ives! Je me souviens avoir fait un exposé dessus. Les gens mettaient de leurs images dans leur maison pour mieux découvri ce qui se passait ailleurs. Les blogs prendraient le relais un jour, ils ne le savaient pas...

I like these Currier and Ives prints – to me they really look like early America. Wouldn’t you like to have been able to skate in Central Park with all these happy people? Skating in winter was one of my favorite pastimes, of course in Paris it was never that cold, so I always went to the Piscine Molitor which had a skating ring in winter. I loved it there.
